Journal Fuel

About

Everyone stops
journaling.

The blank page is not the hard part. The hard part is the Tuesday three weeks after you stopped, when picking it up again feels like admitting you failed at it.

Why This Exists

Most journaling advice is written for the first week, when you are enthusiastic and the notebook is new. Almost none of it is written for week six, which is when everybody actually needs it.

This blog is for week six. The prompts here are built for days when nothing happened, when you do not feel like it, and when you have already missed a month.

What A Good Prompt Does

It gives you somewhere to start that is smaller than your whole life. A prompt that asks what you are grateful for is fine on a good day and useless on a flat one, so most of the prompts here are narrower and stranger than that.

Nothing here requires an app, a streak, or a system. A notebook and ten minutes is the whole setup, and missing a week costs you nothing.

What You Will Not Find Here

  • Streak counters and guilt about breaking them
  • Claims that journaling will fix your life
  • Aesthetic spreads that take an hour to draw
  • An app you have to subscribe to

Who Writes It

Kevin Gabeci. I have started and abandoned more journals than I would like to count, which turns out to be the useful qualification here.
